I was at my parents' house tonight and I found an old photo album. It was chock-full of pictures of my childhood, which in retrospect doesn't look all that different from the present. Let's have a look, shall we?
The Mug Shot
Once upon a time, my uncle was a sheriff. He gave my brothers and I a tour of the county jail, took our finger prints, our pictures, and even locked us up in a cell for a while... all in good fun. Little did I know how familiar this process would become.
Check out the stylin' 80's nylon ski jacket.
The Broken Arm
There are literally dozens of pictures of me with broken limbs. Practically every shot of me featured a cast of some kind. But this one from July of 1983 is just classic. Our family went camping a lot, and we were all avid swimmers. But it's pretty fucking tough to enjoy a day at Devil's Lake State Park when you have to keep your cast above water. It looks like my dad has fitted me with a plastic bag over the cast, but I still have to wear that lame sling. So essentially, I'm wading. Super.
The Black Eye
I have never liked team sports, but my parents insisted that all boys like sports and made me try out for every single one of them. Baseball was no exception. During the very first practice, we all paired up and were playing catch. This is pointless to me, because I can't catch a fucking thing. At one point, the coach calls our attention to him, so I look his way. Less than a second later, the person I was playing catch with hollers my name, I turn to look in his direction, and get beaned in the face with the baseball he had thrown while I wasn't looking.
I was dismissed from practice and my parents were supposed to take me to the ER to have a look at this black eye. But before we went, my mom was laughing so hard that she demanded this photo from me. Don't I just look thrilled?
If I knew then that my entire life would be this non-stop series of mishaps, I would've started this blog a LOT earlier.

Mug shot
Were the cops, from last week, able to pull up this old mug shot? If so, did they have to take a new one or just use the old one?
New mug shot with every arrest
Mug shots are taken every time you get hauled in, and they keep them all in a series. The one above wasn't ever entered into the system, but maybe I'll bring it with me next time. Just for their amusement.
